As the network becomes more and more integral to smart-home systems, CE pros who are trained in programming will have an advantage. Patrick Murray, who saw the evolution of the network as owner of AV GUI, has launched a course-based training website to teach programming to integrators.
“IT systems are based on open standards but AV relies heavily on proprietary solutions,” says Murray. “LearnAVProgramming.com is here to teach you how to use open, standards based technologies and converge your skills with reality.”
Integrators can learn the following.
- Modern Programming Tools: The move to Software Defined Systems requires modern software development techniques and tools.
- Cloud Applications: Stop ignoring what the power of the cloud can do for your business. Better Support, Data Insights and new Business Models are waiting for you.
- Networking: AV/IT Engineers and Technicians need a laptop with tools like Wireshark installed – and you need to know how to use them.
Courses include a starter course, a remote management application development course and an automation and control course for beginners.
LearnAVProgramming.com also features free tools, like its weekly webinars that run alongside Murray's latest course, “iOS App Development for AV Programmers.” The webinar, titled “How to Make Your Own Automation and Control App“ will air on July 20.
Murray has been working with audiovisual systems in one form or another since 1995. After moving to Germany in 2005, he founded Controlhaus and began developing automation and control software for mega-yachts, luxury homes, command and control centers and a few conference rooms along the way.
Murray is trained and certified in Controlhaus Systems Design and is an AMX VIP, Crestron Certified Master Programmer, Extron Certified Control Professional, InfoComm CTS and THX Certified.
