Touchscreens, keypads, switches and other smart-home controllers get better looking every year, but discriminating homeowners still want to see less of them.
With flush-mount solutions from Israel-based Wall-Smart, the clutter can blend beautifully into walls, including solid surfaces such as wood.
Wall-Smart first appeared in the home-technology channel at CEDIA 2012 with flush-mounting systems for the iPad, but soon grew to support multiple controllers from popular home-automation, audio and lighting companies.
Today, Wall-Smart supports a wide range of wall-mounted devices from dozens of control companies including Crestron, Control4, Elan, Lutron, Vantage, URC, Savant, RTI, AMX, Niles, Honeywell, Autonomic … and many more.
In the past, Wall-Smart had to push its accessories onto control vendors, but now it’s pulling in business from them.
At ISE 2017, Wall-Smart’s Galia Ben-Dor demonstrated a new product built for Crestron’s new TSD-2220, 21.5-inch touchscreen, which was just launching at the show.
“Crestron just announced the big touchscreen at ISE, and Wall-Smart was already ready with a mount,” she said.

Wall-Smart products now can be purchased through both Control4 and Core Brands dealer portals.
In fact, says Ben-Dor, “Every time you buy a [supported] control device through Control4, it recommends Wall-Smart products.”
Core Brands is the latest company to carry Wall-Smart through its portal, with solutions available for Elan Home Systems, Niles Audio and SpeakerCraft.
While Wall-Smart entered the industry with products meant for new construction, the company now offers “nearly flush” mounts for retrofit applications. The company also has solutions for solid surfaces such as wood.
One of the more interesting implementations demonstrated at ISE was a mounting solution for Philips Antumbra keypads. The keypads, which were designed to mount on a wall, feature LEDs used to illuminate the surface when someone approaches.
The LEDs, however, are on the underside of the keypad, so they wouldn’t illuminate the area if they keypad were flush-mounted.
Wall-Smart’s answer is a mount with a carved-out edge that makes way for the lighting.
