Media Solutions, a manufacturer of media distribution products, has augmented the features of its MS-TestPro HDBaseT system tester to increase its user friendliness and applicability to today’s media.
The Israeli-based manufacturer’s new integrator-friendly test solution allows users to generate certification reports, and it supports integrators’ ability to inspect individual cabling runs to streamline the installation of HDBaseT networks.
“The HDBaseT report generator tool can analyze data automatically collected by the MS-TestPro and create a report detailing the quality of an HDBaseT routed cable. The report can be then transferred to a computer or smartphone,” says Eliran Toren, co-founder and CEO of Media Solutions. “This is a great opportunity for professional A/V installers and integrators. For the first time ever they can inspect the HDBaseT installation quality within less than a minute while in the field, detecting any possible failures on the line.”
Toren emphasizes that the tester, which is available in a choice of configurations, is designed to provide everything necessary to validate the connectivity of installed HDBaseT infrastructures.
“It’s a simple tool that will give the installer everything he needs to know about an HDBaseT link,” Toren adds.

Media Solutions’ MS-TestPro Is Easy to Use
Pulling the MS-TestPro out of its protective carrying case, it's clear that the tester comes with everything integrators will need to test HDBaseT systems.
Depending on the user’s background and experience, the tester provides basic test functions to verify link status, and it’s also capable of testing systems on deeper levels, including EDID functionality.
Some of the more detailed information the tester is capable of reporting includes link quality, link status of the transmitter and receiver, the pixel clock, the HDBaseT link chip type and cable length.
All of this information is communicated via graphs that summarize the tester’s results, and dealers can keep this information along with other system and client information related to the job to produce detailed certification reports.
Using the tester in the field is easy. With everything included in the carrying cases, integrators simply need to connect category cables to the tester’s transmitter and receiver modules.
Once the physical connections are set, the MS-TestPro 3.5-inch user interface walks users through the functions they want to test. Using a stylus allows users to select the functions they want to test, and once tests are completed the display showcases the results.
Arguably one of the most important features of the MS-TestPro is its compatibility with Ultra HD 4K-enabled HDBaseT systems. With the growth of 4K content, and especially the momentum that 4K with HDR is gaining, this could quickly become a standard test that integrators perform.
As a complete package, the reasonably-priced MS-TestPro is an easy-to-use, time saving solution that can save integrators time and money, and increase customer satisfaction.
Media Solutions says the MS-TestPro with the 3.5-inch touchscreen (MS102TD) carries an MSRP of $1,395.
The Wi-Fi Client Model with a built-in HDMI test pattern generator (MS103TDs) carries an MSRP of $1,695.
