Home and building management solutions provider Nice is launching its first ever line of custom smart sun shades, marking a significant milestone for the company as it expands to offer a larger ecosystem of whole home automation systems.
The Carlsbad, Calif.-based company says its new Sun Shades by Nice line includes a variety of smart roller shading solutions for home technology professionals. The shades come in “expansive” design options while remaining simple and flexible for integrators to install.
The shades can be integrated into a project at any shade of the building process and they come with options for indoor and outdoor use, the company says.
According to Nice, it’s new line of sun shades for interiors include open roll, cassette, fascia, pocket mounting and options for dual roller and total blackout shades. For more complex needs, Nice’s new line of shades also includes options for skylights, bottom-up applications and peaked or angled windows.
The shade motors enable more options for windows up to 18 feet, the company says.

For exteriors, the line includes track-guided and cable-guided solutions for vertical and horizontal needs. The shades can also help prevent heat transfer from solar radiation and improve temperature and energy use.
Sun Shades by Nice are powered by the company’s tubular motors, which it says are quiet, durable and reliable. Motors come in wide variety including AC, DC and battery as well as both wired and RF, and are currently available to OEM fabrication partners.
The shades can be paired with a Nice Home Management System, to help make setup in the Nice Configurator app simple for installers.
“We’re excited to add our first line of sun shades to the Nice portfolio,” says Jeff Shaw, vice president of product management at Nice North America. “By expanding our offering with Sun Shades by Nice, we’re building a larger, more complete portfolio for our CI partners and providing our customers with a true whole home ecosystem.”
