Making its biggest commitment to stereo since it introduced its hi-fi player 65 years ago, Yamaha has unveiled its Yamaha 5000 series of products that include loudspeakers, pre-amp, amp and turntable.
Yamaha explains the 5000 series builds upon the performance of previous generation hi-fi products such as its 1000 and 2000 series.
The newly announced line of products includes the NS-5000 Speakers, the C-5000 Pre-Amplifier, the M-5000 Power Amplifier and the GT-5000 Turntable.
“With this new system, the focus is less on the individual components and more on the immersive and uniquely moving experience created for the listener,” says Alex Sadeghian, director, consumer audio, Yamaha Corporation of America.
“Achieving purity of sound is critical and our new 5000 series was designed with this, and the discerning listener in mind. Authentic sound reproduction is in the Yamaha DNA, from our musical instruments and the smallest wireless speaker, all the way to our flagship hi-fi gear. This is the entire concept behind the 5000 series. It’s an achievement in both art and sound.”

Yamaha 5000 Series NS-5000 Speakers
The NS-5000 Speakers incorporate drivers made from Zylon, which is a high-strength, lightweight synthetic fiber. The speaker also incorporates an acoustic absorber that eliminates the need for sound absorbing material to maintain the original presence of music.
Yamaha offers a choice of white Japanese birch or the same gloss-black piano finish it uses for its pianos.
Yamaha C-5000 Pre-Amplifier
The C-5000 employs fully balanced discrete circuits that mirror one another that facilitate signal transmission, power and ground connections to utilize a minimalist approach.
Yamaha points out the C-5000 also features a pair of toroidal transformers for the preamplifier’s left and right channels.
The C-5000 also includes a copper-plated chassis, heavy-duty brass feet, and a choice of RCA, XLR inputs and outputs.
M-5000 Power Amplifier
According to Yamaha, its 5000 Series M-5000 series amplifier uses a floating and balanced design that reduces the signal path as much as possible.

The amp also employs a mechanical ground concept where the power transformer, block capacitors and heat sink are mechanically fixed to the frame to eliminate the influence of vibrations.
In addition, the M-5000 Amplifier features a toroidal transformer, as well as thick internal wires and robust screw-type connectors to promote low-impedance properties.
Yamaha 5000 Series GT-5000 Turntable
Rounding out the 5000 series of components is the GT-5000 Turntable.
Drawing from previous products such as the GT (Gigantic and Tremendous) series, the GT-5000 Turntable features a belt-drive system with quartz timing, and a short, straight carbon fiber tonearm.
Yamaha emphasizes the turntable includes an 11.5-pound outer platter, a 4.4-pound inner platter, and heavy-duty feet to provide high levels of mass and stability.
Moreover, the turntable uses a 24-pole, two-phase AC synchronous motor that is said to produce an accurate sine wave, and a heavy wooden cabinet that is finished in the same piano black as its pianos.
