Testing control and automation systems can be time consuming and arduous to say the least. Helping to take the pain and labor out of system testing is the Grapevine, Texas-based company PanTech.
PanTech's PD Device Tools suite is designed to allow electronics professionals to test IR, serial and IP control of any device on the market. And best of all, it's free to use.
“This is a real time saver and completely unique in the industry,” says Troy Morgan, owner, PanTech Design. “We put a lot of time into developing and testing this tool, but offering it to the industry for free is just our way of showing gratitude for all the support we've received over the years. And I believe in 'paying it forward.'”
The tool tests Crestron systems, including systems that typically incorporate a Crestron SIMPL Windows program with IR, serial and IP control modules assigned to fixed control ports.
Instead of having programmers build, test, modify and redesign multiple versions of a program, the PD Device allows integrators to load IR control drivers to Crestron processors to test IR codes quickly.
In addition, PanTech says that programmers can switch between control ports within a system, and when testing serial and IR, control devices can be connected to directly to test string commands.
The software is available for now for free download.
