A strong case could be made that Pro Audio Technology started the trend of bringing commercial audio technology into the speaker category. Today there are a number of manufacturers utilizing commercial-grade drivers and advanced DSPs to control sound dispersion and pro-style speaker layouts to ensure even tonal coverage.
Adding to its product line, the West Coast audio company has announced its SCRS-6c-iw in-wall and in-ceiling loudspeaker.
Pro Audio's latest speaker is a compact eight-inch square product that measures less than four inches deep, and according to Pro Audio, the speaker is a “true high-output design.”
“We're excited that the SCRS-6c-iw is now available nationwide,” says Paul Hales, president of Pro Audio Technology. “It is the perfect speaker for distributed audio needs. The SCRS-6c-iw is a uniquely small speaker that packs serious punch, providing rich, full sound to rooms large or small.”
Small Build, Big Sound
Pro Audio says the SCRS-6c-iw incorporates a professional-grade 6-inch high-output woofer, along with a coaxially mounted, high-sensitivity compression driver that share a common magnet. This design, according to the company, keeps the driver depth to a minimum to enable the speaker to fit into standard 2×4 stud bays.
The drivers not only provide a slim profile to support residential installations; they are also efficient. Pro Audio Technology points out the speaker's woofer is 93dB efficient and the compression driver is 103dB efficient, and when paired with a Pro Audio DSP amplifier the speaker produces a frequency response of 125Hz to 23kHz.
The SCRS-6c-iw can be used for home theater, including object-based surround sound systems. Dealers can also utilize the speaker in their whole-house audio installations to cover wide listening areas via its 100-degree radiation pattern.
