A growing number of manufacturers are adopting the advantages of 70-volt audio technologies to ensure and improve the performance of their outdoor audio products, and their ability to cover homeowners' properties.
SnapAV has announced its Episode IP-enabled 70V Amplifiers, which allow integrators to control and configure the amplifers remotely using its OvrC remote management platform.
“We set out to create a 'smart' 70-volt amp that was completely dealer centric,” says Matthew Kamp, product director, Episode. “We started with a world-class audio amplifier design; [we] added great features, and then [we] topped it off with our OvrC platform, which offers the convenience to configure from anywhere.”
SnapAV explains that, through the inclusion of the OvrC platform, dealers can set up their clients' systems to allow customers to see device details. Dealers can also provide access to local interfaces to allow users to control their volume settings, input selection and clipping levels, power cycle the amp, and more.
The new 70-volt amps are available in a choice of 150-, 300- and 500-watt models, and also include IR and RS-232 control options to allow dealers to integrate the products into control systems from companies such as Control4, Crestron, RTI and URC.
Before announcing the products, Kamp adds that SnapAV has improved its testing procedures to better ensure the amps will stand up to the rigors of everyday, heavy usage by homeowners.
“Our test equipment is designed to emulate years of install in some of the harshest environments possible,” says Kamp. “And thanks to a number of beta users, we've had these amp installed in A/V systems around the country since 2015, allowing us to capture feedback and incorporate it into the final product. As a result, the functionality of these amplifiers is iron clad.”
