The home and commercial audio engineer Jeff Coombs has passed away.
Jeff Coombs is best known as the founder of James Loudspeaker and Ambisonic Systems, and at the time of his passing he was president of Ambisonic Sales at Origin Acoustics. Coombs died on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, in Palm Desert, Calif., after a battle with cancer surrounded by family who loved and adored him. He was 69 years old.Â
Coombs founded James Loudspeaker in 1999 and Ambisonic Systems in 2009. Ambisonic Systems was purchased by Origin Acoustics in 2020 and Origin Acoustics points out the company specializes in high-output sound reinforcement loudspeakers. Coombs had over 54 years of experience in the design of professional loudspeakers specializing in ribbon-line arrays. He is listed as the inventor on many patents. His company and speakers are known for innovative concepts, breakthrough technologies and high levels of sound quality.Â
Jeff and his family are long-time residents of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. They helped build the city and centered their lives and businesses there. He had a deep love for the community and will be missed my many in that small city.
Jeff Coombs is survived by his wife, Betty; his two stepchildren, Tyler Rossetti, and Ashley Rossetti-Belton; his brother, Jay Coombs; his sister Diana Coombs; his two nieces Ivory and Nicole Marinakis, and a grandniece, Haylee; along with many relatives, friends, and all the admirers of the person he was and the products that he built.
