It would be a hard task to find a category within consumer electronics that has grown more over the past decade than headphones. Helping to drive the high-performance segment of the headphone category has been the Costa Mesa, Calif.-based company Audeze.
One of the most popular manufacturers of high-performance headphones in the industry, the company is reinforcing its reputation through the release of new products like its recently announced SINE on-ear planar magnetic headphones.
The competitively priced, state-of-the-art headphones are the second model from the company to incorporate its Cipher Lightning cable option, which allows users to digitally connect the headphones to their iOS devices to stream a 24-bit signals through its DAC and DSP technologies. Audeze points out the system's built-in microphone can be used for phone and video calls and it notes the built-in microphone is compatible with Siri.
Audeze says the SINE on-ear headphones are its lightest headphones and they incorporate an industrial design from Designworks, a BMW Group Company. The headphones also employ the company's planar magnetic technologies, including its Fazor Elements and Uniforce diaphragms. Through these driver technologies, Audeze states the headphones produce, “very low distortion, good bass, a seductive midrange, crisp extended high frequencies, and excellent imaging.”
For those that don't want the Cipher Lightning cable version of the SINE headphones ($499), Audeze offers a standard cabling version ($449). Audeze adds that both models are travel friendly through their ability to fold flat for traveling convenience.
