Smart home security brand Arlo is releasing its second-generation Essential cameras and doorbells, a new series of value smart home and security devices that bring several new advancements.
The new lineup includes the Arlo Essential XL Outdoor Camera with 4X the battery life of the new standard Essential Outdoor Camera, as well as the new Essential Indoor Camera that comes with an automated privacy shield. In addition, the second-generation Essential line includes a new Video Doorbell with a 180-degree field of view.
According to the company, each devices features USB-C connections for easy re-charging, and a new quick set-up process offers a more streamlined experience via Bluetooth.
In addition, each second-generation Essential camera is available in either full HD resolution or 2K resolution, giving consumers the ability to choose the model that bet fits their security and budget needs.
Like many other smart home devices, the second-generation Essential devices integrate with many third-party smart home platforms, including Google Assistant, IFTTT and Amazon Alexa.
The new Essential XL Outdoor Camera features is $99.99 for the HD resolution model or $149.99 for the 2K model, and features:
- A longer battery life with an expanded built-in reachable battery
- A 130-degree viewing angle
- An integrated spotlight
- Color video capabilities at night
- Noice-canceling audio
- An integrated siren that can be triggered from the Arlo app
- Weather resistant capabilities
The new Essential Outdoor Camera is $49.99 for the HD resolution model or $99.99 for the 2K model, and features the same capabilities as the XL model, but with a shorter battery life.
The Essential Indoor Camera is $39.99 for the HD model or $79.99 for the 2K model and features:
- An automated privacy shield that can be controlled through the Arlo Secure App
- A 130-degree viewing angle
- Noise-cancelling audio
- Night vision
- An Integrates siren
Meanwhile, Arlo’s new Video Doorbell is $79.999 for the HD model or $129.99 for the 2K version, and features many of the same camera capabilities such as night vision, an integrated siren and weather resistant hardware, as well as:
- The ability to answer the doorbell from a phone
- Vido messaging so guests can leave a voice message if homeowners are unable to answer the door
- A touchless disarm feature that allows users to hold the new Arlo Security Tag against the doorbell to disarm the Arlo Home Security System
