Your customers are hooked on 4K TV, or will be once they see it in your showrooms. But as is often the case with new technologies, it takes time for complete solutions to appear, leaving you with seemingly insurmountable problems and customer demands that can be difficult to meet.
If you haven’t run into this problem yet, you will; the momentum behind 4K is unstoppable. The Consumer Technology Association reports that nearly 8.9 million 4K Ultra HD flat panels will be sold in 2016, at an average price point well above current mere HD standards, for a total market value of almost $8.8 billion.
Further, according to data from IHS Inc., 34 percent of U.S. households will have 4K TVs in the next three years. That is compared to the current penetration of just 3 percent, according to the Consumer Technology Association.
These figures point to an approaching wave of demand for 4K solutions, and whole-home solutions will be among the most challenging. While there are a few 4K streaming players in the market, there’s only one company offering devices that can unify content across cable, the web, and even in-home servers: TiVo.
Why TiVo? The key, says Jeff Pederson, Senior Retail Product Manager at TiVo, is the unified experience. “It’s the only truly 4K unified entertainment system on the market, combining 4K content, linear TV, recorded content, apps and OTT content such as Netflix®. And this experience can be shared on every screen in your house, removing the need for costly video switchers and the need to train your customer in multiple user interfaces.”
Simple, Flexible Topology
TiVo, as a brand and a system, offers the flexibility to meet the demands of a wide range of needs. With the new TiVo BOLT, integrators can easily create a whole-home solution for their 4K customers, using either a hardwired MoCA adapter¹ or Ethernet. Moreover, multiple TiVo BOLTs can work together seamlessly, creating a whole-home video network that lets customers have the same experience and library of content on all of their screens, both in and out of the home².
For added flexibility, the TiVo BOLT can be rack-mounted, but it’s elegant curved design begs to be put on display. Or, as Fox Business put it, “Finally you have something that is so designable and chic, people will look at this and say, 'I want it and I don't even know what it does.'”
For integrators, the flexibility of the TiVo BOLT means it's easy to install and connect, reducing the potential for installation nightmares. And faster installations mean more profit potential. Likewise, selling a high-margin TiVo box with a multi-year subscription service is a net gain for CE pros vs. having clients rent a satellite set-top box, and help you avoid two significant drawbacks for your customers:
- A satellite system opens up the potential for an integrator's system to be mucked up by a less-skilled third-party technician.
- It requires that your customer's home be marred by an unsightly satellite dish.
Let’s be honest, up to now installing a video system required a lot of “pro bono” work from an integrator. Installing and supporting cable boxes was just part of
the job. But TiVo BOLT is the cable box dealers can sell and actually make money on.
TiVo BOLT offers the premiere 4K solution for the multi-room setup problem, letting integrators sell something their customers will love, with features they’ll rave about to their friends.
