One of the newer handheld touchscreen remotes to hit the DIY market is the Ray Super Remote from Ray Enterprises.
The device can control select devices via IP (Wi-Fi), and also has onboard IR transmitters for controlling IR-only components.
But when it comes to controlling IR devices behind a cabinet, the company has turned to Global Cache to provide IP-to-IR adapters.
A partnership between the two companies also allows the Ray remote to operate devices controlled by relay or other methods supported by Global Cache’s IP-enabled Flex controllers (a CES 2013 must-see).
“This is a big step forward for Ray in the professional installer and integrator market,” says Bernardo Carvalho, VP of product management for Ray Enterprises.
He adds that a combined Ray/Global Cache solution can support “highly sophisticated living room setups and extending to devices throughout the home.”
