Meridian was teasing us in the fall of 2012 with the prospect of new in-wall speakers. Now, its has started shipping its DSP520 Digital Active In-wall Loudspeaker.
Featuring a narrow design that measures a mere 200mm, the DSP520 promises the type of audio you’d get from something eight times the physical volume. Meridian achieves that via its own Wide Range Driver technology, as well as having those drivers right up in the front – and separate from the case that houses the electronics and amplifiers.
Other features include Advanced DSP (Digital Signal Processing) with Enhanced Bass Alignment (EBA) and Centre Elevation technologies.
Meridian has designed these to be a complement to any of its in-wall models, such as the DSP640 and the DSW500 subwoofer. Of course, they also work well with the company’s freestanding speakers, as well as alone. Each one can be mounted in the wall or ceiling, horizontally or vertically. The speakers also have paintable magnetic grilles to match your decor or mood.
Meridian says that the DSP520 Digital Active In-wall Loudspeaker is available now, priced at $5,000 each.
