The Crestron CP4-R home operating system processor is now shipping. Crestron says the new CP4-R is its first Series 4 product, and the component is the fastest, most powerful residential control system it has ever built.
“The CP4-R gives us a powerful, future-proof platform to support continued enhancements to the Crestron Home operating system,” states Michael Short, global residential marketing manager, Crestron.
“It's exciting times ahead for Crestron residential systems integrators and their clients.”
Designed to serve as a home control and automation system's “central brain,” Crestron says the CP4-R provides four times the speed and double the RAM support than its previous generation CP3-R home operating system processor.
The CP4-R supports the company's current-generation Pyng OS2 operating system, and when its upcoming OS 3 operating system launches later this year, the new home operating system processor will also support that platform.
OS 3 Platform Scales to Fit a Range of Home System Requirements
Introduced earlier this year at the ISE 2019 trade event in Amsterdam, Crestron explains that its OS 3 residential control and automation platform is engineered to provide integrators with installation flexibility.
According to Crestron, the OS 3 platform can be used for any size smart home installation to provide an intuitive user experience via mobile devices and its TSW touch screens.
In addition, besides the benefits it provides homeowners, Crestron emphasizes that integrators will benefit through the deployment of the product line via its fast and easy installation procedures.

“OS 2 delivered the foundation—OS 3 perfects the experience. It's completely redesigned, simple, clean and sophisticated,” adds Short.
“Add in remarkably fast deployment of any sized project, and top it off with the best hardware in the business. Why use anything else.”
OS 3 will provide integrators new page designs, dynamic room controls and icons and other new features.
Crestron says OS 3 will be available in the spring of 2019.
