At CEDIA 2017 in San Diego, SnapAV company Araknis Networks is showing its new 110-series of compact switches, which bring a complete networking solution to tight spaces. The company will also have its new 700-series outdoor wireless access point (WAP) on hand in Booth 3415 of the San Diego Convention Center.
Available in 5-, 8-, and 16-port options, the 110-series switches can be placed inside a VersaBox behind the TV or structured wiring can. Each switch can be powered via PoE, eliminating the need for bulky power supplies and leaving space for other devices.
“From the included structured wiring tabs to its PoE power, everything about this compact switch was made with the installer in mind,” says Ayham Ereksousi, director of products, Araknis Networks. “Space in a structured wiring can or VersaBox is constantly limited, and now dealers can maximize it.”
Besides its compact form factor, this innovative switch features 1Gbps on all ports simultaneously, a fanless design, and a 15W max port, capable of powering another PoE device.
As with other 110-series switches, the new design is Unmanaged+, which allows dealers to see through the entire network to each connected device via OvrC, SnapAV’s award-winning remote management platform. (SnapAV introduced OvrC Pro during CEDIA 2016.)
New Access Point Adds IP55 Rating
Araknis Networks has released its 700-series outdoor wireless access point (pictured below), which features the same network capability as the current 700-series WAP with the added assurance of an IP55 rating. In addition to multiple outdoor mounting options, this access point also includes remote management via OvrC, a built-in switch, fast roaming and dual-band capability with band steering.
Perfect for decks, pergolas, large yards and guest houses, the new 700 series outdoor WAP boasts a throughput of 1,750 Mbps and includes a 3×3 antenna configuration, useful for high-speed devices.
It also doesn’t require DC power, and can be run via standard 30W PoE switch port or injector.
The WAP’s IP55 weather-resistant rating allows it to be safely placed outdoors and still perform in the company of rain, wind and dust.
“Outdoor living is a growing trend in North America,” says Ereksousi. “Consumers want to enjoy the outdoors while staying connected to their digital life. The 700-series Outdoor WAP allows dealers to bring this experience to their customers.”
