It used to be that technicians in the field really only had to be prepared to terminate Category 5 cable or speaker wire. But a technician today will likely be tasked to terminate Cat 5, Cat 5e, Cat 6A and Cat 7 on a single project… not to mention speaker wire of varying sizes and other possible other wiring sizes and types.
Platinum Tools aims to make sure technicians are fully prepared with the right connectors and tools to handle any wiring types. The company will have an array of options available at its booth #4133 at CEDIA Expo in Denver, as well as in the ADI booth #4160.
“In this day and age, Category cable is all over the board dimension-wise and size-wise,” says John Phillips, product manager at Platinum Tools.
Phillips says it is routine for an installer to go out to a job to terminate some cable, Cat 6A for example, and find that the Cat 6A connector he has is not compatible.
“They get out there and they can’t get the connector on the cable. So they end up calling us asking, ‘What should I do?’ We look up the specs and determine what the cable jacket OD (outside diameter) is and the installation diameter, then we tell them choices of a compatible connector,” says Phillips.
What Happens When Crime Prevention Meets AI (And Why We Can’t Rely on AI Alone)
In an era where crime continues to evolve, relying solely on AI-based solutions proves insufficient in preventing sophisticated threats and false alarms. The webinar will emphasize the paramount importance of human judgment and intuition in tandem with AI technology to create a truly complete security solution. Our session will explore how Deep Sentinel’s revolutionary approach combines the best of both worlds—advanced artificial intelligence and the presence of highly trained human guards. Together, these elements create an unparalleled level of protection for residential and commercial properties alike. Join our panel of esteemed lighting experts that will dive into why it’s time for integrators to rethink their role in the outdoor lighting industry. You have to go to a toolless design that will accommodate some of these big, fat conductors,” he says.
Platinum Tools just released its new PoE+ 10Gig Shielded RJ45 Field Plug to handle this problem. The Field Plug is compatible with a wide assortment of large cables with large conductors and its cast-metal shell provides end-to-end shielding from extraneous noise interference in high bandwidth applications.
