CEDIA 2016 is coming to Dallas on September 13-17. CE Pro spoke to Tom Lambrecht, account manager North America, Basalte, about the company's plans for the show and what to expect in booth #5349.

For those looking to become a dealer, call +32-9-385-78-38 or email info@basalte.us.

What would you say to dealers who are already familiar with your product line?

CEDIA 2016 is the perfect moment to meet up and talk about the updates that we have made to our US product portfolio. At CEDIA 2016, you can discover our new Deseo HVAC control panel for Lutron HomeWorks QS and Crestron systems, along with our new Eve wall mount for iPad Pro 12.9” (with security & charging options) and the new high-grade finishes for our touch-sensitive design keypads.

Especially interesting is that we will have both commercial and technical staff present to talk about the use and integration of our high-end products for the residential market, as well as discuss how Basalte’s design products could help you win projects with (interior) architects.

What would you say to dealers who are stumbling across your company for the first time?

As most home automation systems these days are often designed from a technical point of view and therefore too complex to be operated intuitively, Basalte’s product range provides an answer to this problem.

All our products are developed from the viewpoint of the end user and distinguish themselves by the way in which they can be operated. This results in a timeless product range where design and user friendliness are the starting points. As all products are made in Belgium, Basalte represents the sleek and qualitative European design of high-end products for the modern home.

Step by step, we broaden our product range for the North American market. It started with our sleek, aluminum Eve mount for iPad & iPod touch in 2012. Since then, we also successfully launched the touch-sensitive Sentido keypad for Lutron Homeworks QS and Crestron systems.

Now, we continue this path by releasing Deseo, our design HVAC control panel for Lutron HomeWorks QS & Crestron systems, together with new high-grade finishes for both Deseo and Sentido. Additionally, we are shipping our Eve mount for iPad Pro 12.9” with security & charging options.

In everything we do, we value good design, quality materials and great support for the custom installer. We do this together with our local reps. We also provide you with detailed technical documentation and software, accompanied by technical support.

If an integrator stops by your booth with only 5 minutes to spare, what’s the one product he should examine or one question he should ask?

We would introduce the integrator to Basalte’s key philosophy: developing pure, easy to use solutions for high-end residential projects, where we put focus on user friendliness, innovative functionalities and the use of quality materials such as aluminum, bronze, glass…

What’s your most memorable CEDIA moment?

At CEDIA 2014, we launched the Sentido keypad and we immediately won 2 awards: the Residential Systems Best of Show and the Manufacturer’s Excellence Award for Best New Product. We were happy to add these to Sentido’s award list, which also includes the Red Dot design award, iF product design award, GOOD DESIGN…

Think of your closest competitor. What is one thing you do offer that they don’t?

As most home automation systems these days are often designed from a technical point of view and therefore too complex to be operated intuitively and without thinking, Basalte strives to provide an answer to this problem.

Making products that stem from a quest for simplicity in design and user friendliness were the starting points of a timeless and exclusive range of products for smart home systems. All products are developed from the viewpoint of the end user and distinguish themselves by the way in which they can be operated. Additionally, they stand out thanks to their high-quality design and finish, as all Basalte products are developed and made in Belgium to the highest standards.
