A recent consumer study from Support.com bashed home automation systems for their price and usability, labeling them as a “broken promise.”
CE Pro's managing editor Arlen Schweiger explains that negative surveys like that are actually good news for custom installers. It is strong evidence they can use to differentiate their custom solutions vs. the DIY app-based solutions that surveys like this are likely addressing. These studies have the effect of reducing demand at the DIY app level, but not at the custom level.
So instead of moaning about it, dealers might want to think about how they can use this information wisely.
