On May 13, a new exhibit opened at London's Victoria and Albert Museum called “The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains.” The exhibit celebrates Pink Floyd's decades of popularity with a fully immersive 3D audio solution developed by Sennheiser. Sennheiser even designed a special edition of its Momentum HD 1 wireless headphones for the exhibit, which draw inspiration from Pink Floyd's “Dark Side of the Moon” album.
“It is a true pleasure to mark this major cultural event with a dedicated new version of the MOMENTUM [headphones] that celebrates both design and an enduring love of music. This is also a wonderful way to continue our history as a company working with Pink Floyd,” says Daniel Sennheiser, co-CEO, Sennheiser.
Sennheiser customized the HD 1s with rainbow-colored stitching on the stainless steel headband's leather banding that mimic the visual color spectrum on the “Dark Side of the Moon” album cover. The headphones' ear cups employ a pearlescent rainbow sheen and Pink Floyd “prism” engravings.
Sennheiser also notes the HD 1 headphones include a special “Their Mortal Remains” exhibition name plate.
“This project epitomizes our commitment to support the artists and engineers that record, stage and perform music,” notes Dr. Andreas Sennheiser, co-CEO, Sennheiser. “And no less importantly, it represents the fans that enjoy the work of artists—whether in the shared experience of a concert hall or in the cherished private worlds we can experience with a set of headphones.”
More about Sennheiser's Momentum HD 1 Headphones
In terms of performance attributes, Sennheiser says the Momentum HD 1s provide users with Active Noise Cancelling. Bolstered by the company's proprietary transducers, Sennheiser states the headphones deliver a sound that's “detailed, pure and with a slight emphasis.”
Included NFC technologies enable “at a touch” pairing with compatible Bluetooth devices for wireless sound connectivity, and the inclusion of the aptX codec helps the headphones to produce the best possible wireless sound.
Some of the Momentum HD 1s' ergonomic elements include stainless steel hinges that are said to contribute to the industrial design of the headphones without sacrificing the headphones' functionality.
Sennheiser says the Momentum HD 1 wireless special edition headphones' folding headband allows for the product to easily fit in a supplied carrying case.
The Momentum HD 1 wireless special edition Pink Floyd “Their Mortal Remains” headphones will be available in late June 2017.
