Meyer Sound is famous in the audio community for its large, live performance systems that are used by everyone from Metallica and Iron Maiden, to Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande to support their U.S. and global tours. But Meyer offers a much more diversified product portfolio than just large touring systems.
The company will be launching its new Galileo GALAXY line of products in booth #C9925 during the 2016 InfoComm show in Las Vegas on June 4–10.
Meyer says the Galileo GALAXY “network platform marks a quantum leap forward for the Galileo” series, which was first introduced more than a decade ago. The fully networkable GALAXY system provides 24-bit/96kHz multichannel audio via AVB.
The California company says the system’s maximum inputs have been increased from six with the original Galileo system to eight to facilitate 7.1 systems, and it utilizes a new generation of FPGA-based processing that features 96kHz floating-point resolution to deliver increased dynamic range, lower noise floors, and minimal latency levels of just 0.6ms analog in to analog out.
“GALAXY is a brand new platform, and it again moves the proven Galileo concept to the forefront of digital loudspeaker processing,” says John McMahon, vice president of solutions and strategy, Meyer Sound. “It stands alone in its field in terms of open-source networkability, pristine audio performance, and meticulous engineering of the filtering algorithms.”
Some of the Galileo GALAXY’s other features include a delay matrix, provisions for integration into third-party control systems from companies such as Crestron, and improved equalization tools.
The first three Galileo GALAXY products to start shipping this September will be the GALAXY 816, the GALAXY 816-AES3 and the GALAXY 408.
Meyer to Demo Real World SPL
In addition to the Galileo GALAXY products and other solutions such as its MJF-208 stage monitor and MDM-5000 high-power distribution module, which will also be present in the booth, Meyer Sound will be holding its “Real World SPL” demonstrations in room #N112.
The demo will cover the importance of accurately measuring and reporting loudspeaker SPL (sound pressure levels), “as a long-term, full-power, full-bandwidth signal.”
Meyer says the benefits of clean, low-distortion high SPL systems will be shown through one of its cinema systems. The demo system will include a Meyer Sound HMS-15 surround speaker in a 60-seat cinema environment that is rounded out by a 30-foot screen and 4K projector.
“This demo lets everybody know there’s a new player in the high-end residential cinema market,” says Andy Willcox, sales manager, residential systems, Meyer Sound. “InfoComm visitors—and our residential customers—will hear film soundtracks exactly as experienced by those who mixed them on Meyer Sound systems at the world’s leading post-production studios.”
Meyer Sound’s home cinema installations demos will run from 11:00 a .m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday to Friday.
