ViewSonic’s Pro9000 Projector Combines LEDs & Lasers
The new ViewSonic Pro9000 employs a combination of LEDs, lasers and TI's Dark Chip to produce a bright and rich image that offers a 20,000-hour lifespan.
A few years ago a respected member of the video market emphatically told CE Pro that dealers should look past the marketing hype of anamorphic video systems and focus on new light engine technologies like LED and lasers because these technologies are the future of the video market.
Based on the release of ViewSonic‘s Pro 9000 projector, the video category industry member was 100 percent on the money with his forecast. ViewSonic’s latest projector is a state-of-the-art product that made its debut at the 2012 InfoComm show and it is now available to electronics professionals, that want a high performing, low maintenance projector that is priced at a consumer friendly level. “As opposed to conventional lamp-based projection, the Pro9000 employs a laser LED hybrid light engine technology. By eliminating the color wheel, our Pro9000 projector produces astonishing, razor-sharp images while dramatically decreasing ghost images and rainbow effects,” explains Roger Chien, product manager for ViewSonic. “We are proud to have been the first manufacturer to announce a full HD hybrid projector of this kind, and [we] are thrilled to announce its availability to cinema enthusiasts and residential and commercial audio/video installers.”
ViewSonic says the 1080p lamp-free projector utilizes a hybrid LED laser light engine that is powered by Texas Instruments’ (TI) DarkChip technologies, and ViewSonic equips the Pro9000 with plenty of connection options, including dual HDMI inputs, as well as component, composite and S-video analog inputs. The company states the projector is capable of producing 1,600 lumens of brightness and contrast ratios as high as 100,000:1.
In addition to its picture capabilities, ViewSonic notes the projector also meets the requirements of consumers that desire green-friendly solutions in their home. According to the company, the Pro9000 omits the use of mercury and through the use of LED technologies it provides homeowners with a lifespan of 20,000 hours. The projector’s instant on/off features also adds a level of convenience that traditional lamp-based projectors don’t offer, and because of its lamp-free technologies, its maintenance costs are a fraction of traditional projectors.
