CEDIA Q&A: NEAR Previews NEARSCAPES 4.1 Systems
NEAR will be showcasing its latest products at CEDIA Expo 2015 in booth 1516.
Q. What would you say to dealers who are already familiar with your product line? A. Take a look and a listen to the new NEARSCAPES 4.1 systems. Both systems include NEAR’s LB4TM mid/high frequency “satellite” speakers plus an in-ground 10-inch subwoofer. The NEARSCAPES 4.1 system featuring four LB4TMs and one IGS10 subwoofer covers a 3000 sq. ft. area with NEAR’s signature audiophile-grade sound, while the NEARSCAPES 2.1 system with two satellites and one subwoofer covers 1500 sq. ft. The extraordinary area coverage of these systems is due to the 120-degree dispersion of the LB4TM speakers. Fewer NEARSCAPES speakers are needed to cover a given area with high clarity sound than competing systems with 60-degree dispersion. The systems can be configured to accept either low impedance or 70V power inputs. The sub features dual voice coil windings, allowing it to be wired either dual channel (two units, stereo bass), or single channel (one unit, summed voice coils). You won’t find a more convenient to install and better sounding outdoor speaker solution at CEDIA.
Q. What would you say to dealers who are stumbling across your company for the first time? A. Take a deep look into our line-up of dedicated all-weather loudspeakers. NEAR speakers can solve problems where others cannot. Whether it is a landscape system on a budget or a full-blown distributed system covering large gardens and venues, NEAR has solutions including wall-mounted speakers, in-ground speakers and subwoofers and a purpose-designed 8-Ohm or 70Volt amplifier.
Q. If an integrator stops by your booth with only 5 minutes to spare, what’s the one product he should examine or one question he should ask? A. Experience our NEARSCAPES 4.1 outdoor satellite/subwoofer speaker system with selectable 16-Ohm or 70V operation, 120-degree dispersion and versatile installation options. NEARSCAPES offers wider area coverage with fewer speakers, higher fidelity, and greater listener satisfaction.
Q. What’s your most memorable CEDIA moment? A. Last year’s NEAR-sponsored roof-top event at the Hyatt in Denver. Despite the chilly weather everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the sound of our speakers filling the huge space.
Course Offerings at CEDIA: We will be conducting a training called "What Every Residential Integrator Needs to Know About 70V Systems" on Thursday Oct. 15 at 4:30 in Room 151/152.
Q. Do you have any giveaways, contests or quirky features planned for CEDIA? A. At the close of each day of the show and at the close of the October 15 training we will be drawing for a free pair of NEAR LB5 outdoor speakers ($998/pr. MSRP). Visitors to booth 1516 and training attendees should deposit a business card in the drawing box.
Q. Think of your closest competitor (company or product). What is one thing you do offer that they don’t? Please be specific. A. When compared to “spotlight” style speaker and subwoofer solutions, the NEARSCAPES systems have far wider coverage. Large areas can be covered with fewer speakers for easier installation and more consistent sound quality for listeners.
