CEDIA Q&A: Barco Previews 4K 6P Laser Projector, Application-Based Solutions
Barco will be in booth #1310 at CEDIA Expo 2015.
Q. What would you say to dealers who are already familiar with your product line? A. It has been an exciting year for Barco Residential. We are very proud of our current range of projectors, and look forward to what will be the highlight of 2015 for us, introducing our 4K 6P laser projector in the theater in our CEDIA booth. But with Barco Residential, we want to be much more than the creator of the world’s best projectors for the finest home theaters and media rooms. Combining technology leadership with architectural design, our ambition is to bring innovative, visual experiences to all areas of the finest residences. We are introducing application-based solutions, including a high-end home office application, an integrated custom TV with CinemaScope or 16 x 9 aspect ratio, and Direct LED solutions for indoor and outdoor. Using our established components and process, these packaged solutions are designed for the custom integration channel, enabling our partners to create fully integrated solutions that perfectly suit their client’s homes and lifestyles.
Q. What would you say to dealers who are stumbling across your company for the first time? A. Most integrators know the name Barco, but are not necessarily aware of Barco Residential. Barco Residential draws upon our company’s strengths as a global technology leader in visualization, bringing world-class image quality, design and craftsmanship to high-end homes. Our projectors are developed and manufactured in Belgium and Norway, designed from the ground up with one goal in mind – to show the best possible images in any setting. From purpose-built lenses and optics, to custom-made electronics processing boards, we can provide complete solutions in which every component is selected to fulfill the architectural and performance requirements of a room, custom-integrated to work harmoniously together. Barco Residential is committed to the CEDIA channel and bringing exceptional video experiences to homeowners.
Q. If an integrator stops by your booth with only 5 minutes to spare, what’s the one product he should examine or one question he should ask? A. You will not want to miss the demonstration of our new 4K 6P laser projector, coupled with an Auro 11.1 immersive sound system. Featuring unique DCI content, I believe it will deliver the ultimate home cinema experience on this year’s show floor. But I would also encourage visitors to experience our ultimate home office solution featuring custom-designed, high-resolution screens -- where you can work with multiple content sources in a unique way, blending work with play.
Q. What’s your most memorable CEDIA moment? A. CEDIA Expo 2014 marked the debut of Barco Residential, a memorable opportunity which allowed us to share, for the first time, our vision for the future of architectural visualization and high-end home theater together with our distribution partner Display Development. This was topped off by our VIP event at Denver’s historic clock tower, which was the perfect location to celebrate Barco’s 80th anniversary together with our guests and partners, who gave us a wonderful reception at the show. All of this combined resulted in CEDIA Expo 2014 always being a special memory for us.
Q. Do you have any giveaways, contests or quirky features planned for CEDIA? A. Late Friday and Saturday afternoons, visitors will have a chance to experience the Eric Clapton Live at the Royal Albert Hall film, which is currently showing in cinemas around the globe. Come see us at our booth #1310 to find out how you can be part of this!
Q. Think of your closest competitor (company or product). What is one thing you do offer that they don’t? Please be specific. A. In thinking about this question, I’m reminded of what Jim Burns of Display Development told me as to why Barco Residential is the right partner for them. He felt that Barco Residential is the first manufacturer to not only have a vision and a strategy for the residential market that pays homage to both the art and technology of cinema integration, but also the technological capability and solutions to deliver on that vision. To Display Development, this means a unique level of image quality coupled with architectural design that Jim says allows them -- for the first time in their history at CEDIA -- to deliver technology and solutions to the custom integration channel that truly enable integrators to create unique experiences for their clients. That’s what we aspire to, and rather than any single product or feature, this is what will set us apart from competition.
