More Changes at D&M: One Big Defection, One Big Promotion

D&M Holdings has gone through more organizational changes in the past couple of years than any other CE manufacturer, it seems. Now Phil Cohn, former SVP sales and marketing, is leaving the company. The departure comes just one month after the resignation of Bob Weissburg, former president of D&M Holdings Sales & Marketing. Stephen Baker, a 27-year D&M veteran who once served as president of Denon USA, left the company in April. Morris Tait Associates Rep Firm Adds to Sales Team

Marantz SR5006, SR6006 Receivers Feature Apple AirPlay

Marantz has launched two home theater receivers featuring high power output, plenty of advanced inputs, Internet content options and Apple AirPlay compatibility. The 110 watt-per-channel SR6006 ($1,1999) includes seven HDMI v1.4a inputs. The receiver is DLNA v1.5 certified for accessing content from other DLNA drives and devices, includes front USB ports and built-in streaming for services including Pandora, Rhapsody, Napster, Flickr and Internet radio stations. D&M Factory Sustains Earthquake Damage

D&M Holdings' factory in Shirakawa, Japan, is closed at least until Wednesday, March 16, due to heavy damage sustained last week from the devastating 9.0 quake. A statement from D&M Holdings, Inc. North American president Bob Weissburg, says: "Because the facility sustained some damage, it will remain closed through Wednesday, March 16. During this time we will obtain a more complete picture of the damage, put response plans in place and have physical inspections conducted to verify the facility can be re-opened safely. Denon, Marantz Add Apple AirPlay to 9 Products

Denon Electronics and Marantz America announce they will each offer Apple's AirPlay music streaming capability via upgrades to nine network-capable audio/video components in their product lineups. The upgrade will allow users to stream music from their iTunes libraries to AirPlay-updated Denon and Marantz components. Denon and Marantz are expected to launch the $49 upgrade on Nov. 25 through their websites. The Marantz UD5005 Universal Blu-ray Player will ship for $500 in August, featuring playback of CDs, DVDs, DVD-Audio (DVD-A), Super Audio CD (SACDs) and Blu-ray discs. With a history of building some of the best gear in consumer electronics, Marantz America is entering a new product category with the announcement of its new 3D-ready Blu-ray players. Earlier today D&M Holdings announced it would discontinue two of its franchises, Escient and Snell, to focus on its core A/V brands: Denon, Marantz, McIntosh and Boston Acoustics.
