Energy Efficiency Product of the Year: Alarm.com Geo-Services Alarm.com revolutionized the smart thermostat by creating location-based thermostat automations called Geo-Services. By enrolling their smart phone and creating a virtual geo-fence around their house, Alarm.com subscribers can personalize their thermostat to adjust by using their location as a trigger. So when the enrolled smart phone passes outside of the fence the home thermostat will adjust to a pre-set efficiency setting, and when the subscriber re-enters the fence the thermostat adjusts again to a personalized comfort level. The system is also smart enough to recognize multiple smart phones so automations are made with the entire family in mind. Geo-Services is revolutionary and completely eliminates the guess work from smart thermostats. Schedules change and cannot be perfectly predicted, so the homeowner’s location offers the best data for a smart thermostat. Alarm.com exclusively uses this data to drive automations to maximize efficiency without sacrificing comfort, and only when a smart phone is opted into the service by the subscriber. Geo-Services also make the smart thermostat experience effortless. Homeowners simply go about their routine and their thermostat automates without any additional input.
