While Dennis Kozlowski Sits in Jail, Smart Home Goes to Auction
Former estate of jailed Tyco exec Dennis Kozlowski features Crestron automation, 13-seat home theater, Kef speakers, Velodyne subwoofers, Sony displays, one very pink living room.
While former Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski sits in a New York jail, his old North Hampton, N.H., home is going to auction.
Kozlowski sold the home just before heading to jail in 2005 for receiving $81 million in purportedly unauthorized Tyco bonuses, and purchasing knick-knacks such as $15 million artwork on Tyco’s dime.
The property for sale features a Crestron automation system that controls whole-house audio, video, lighting, security and a geothermal HVAC system.
We’re wondering if the security system was installed by Tyco’s ADT division.
We’re also curious: If Kozlowski had to do it again, would he install the new new ADT Pulse home management system powered by iControl?
In any case, we can’t be sure that Kozlowski even enjoyed the Crestron system, the indoor and outdoor pools, tennis court, 12-seat theater, fitness center, massage room, elevator, game room and other niceties.
That’s because the current owner “has been rebuilding the estate virtually from the foundation up for the last six years, with such attention to detail that a commissioned artist spent two years hand-painting walls and murals throughout the home’s more than 10,000 square feet,” according to Grand Estates Auction Co., which is representing the seller.
The auction, which takes place Tuesday, Nov. 9, will be “absolute,” meaning there is no minimum bid.
Kozlowski is serving eight to 25 years, and is up for parole in April 2012.
