StJohn Group Terminates 16 Rep Firms

Company says the move was a "wake-up call" to ignite some innovative thinking to find new ways to grow sales.

StJohn Group, U.S. distributor of Cabasse, Artcoustic, Cineversum and Image Screens, has terminated relationships with 16 of its 18 authorized rep firms.

StJohn Group president Kevin Leja says the move was a “wake-up call” to ignite some innovative thinking to find new ways to grow sales. He adds that the terminated companies were given the option to stay with StJohn Group if they could contribute to the distributor’s new efforts to keep pace in the market with competitors such as Audio Plus Services (APS) and Sumiko.

Leja says StJohn Group is looking for new rep partners. “We are always looking for strong individuals and/or firms who are interested in promoting a design/lifestyle approach to selling A/V and CI products and concepts,” he says. “Many characteristics of our four lines require non-traditional selling that is on the edge of traditional A/V selling techniques. We like it that way; it makes us different.”

According to Leja, StJohn Group has historically worked with firms that have been able to support all of its product line. Leja says that approach is changing in favor of bringing on industry professionals that best fit each product line.
