Sonos has released version 2.8.1 of its Sonos Controller for iPhone, which is available for free download from the iTunes App Store.

The update gives iPhone or iPod touch owners more functionality of the Sonos Multi-Room Music System.

Here are the new features:

  • Supports seven languages – English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Swedish
  • Create, edit and delete multiple alarms on the Sonos system
  • Set timers for any room to turn off the music automatically
  • Playback of DRM protected Microsoft WMA files
  • Search for and set up network music folders without touching a computer

Sonos also announced it now supports music purchased from iTunes after April 7, 2009. Apple recently started providing its music catalog as DRM-free downloads, allowing Sonos users to now control iTunes music from any PC, Mac or Networked Attached Storage device.
