Savant Set to Unleash Smart Series Systems From $1,599
New Smart Series line of control and automation products is designed to lower the cost of home automation and expected to ship in March. Includes $799 Smart Host plus new Wi-Fi remote and a controller with ports for different connected devices.
Savant Systems is looking to make the smart home more affordable for your clients with its newly announced Smart Series.
The Smart Series is a new line of control and automation products designed to bring the Savant home automation experience into almost any home.
Complete packages start at $1,599, and include the Smart Host (which alone, has an MSRP of $799), Savant’s new Wi-Fi-based Universal Remote Control, and a controller with ports for different connected devices. A typical install would have one Smart Host, but you could have as many controllers and remotes as you’d like throughout the house. Installing the system in multiple rooms brings down the cost to as low as $1,000 per room.
The Smart Series is a professionally-installed home automation system, so integrators still need to set up and configure it. During CEDIA Expo 2013 last fall, Savant previewed a “Big Boy Automation” package, Wi-Fi remote, control gateway and Wi-Fi dimmer/thermostat kit that appears to be the genesis for the now-called Smart Series system.
At the center of the setup is that Smart Host, which is new hardware with the same software used in the Savant Pro system. It can control AV equipment, security, thermostats, lights, energy management, automated shades, and more. Users can also opt to use smartphones and tablets for easy control. Savant currently offers a free app for both iOS and Android users.
Speaking of compatibility, the Smart Series is pretty friendly with several protocols. It supports all major wired control (Ethernet, IR, RS-232, etc.), as well as Wi-Fi (preferred), Z-Wave and ZigBee.
“As market awareness for the home automation category has expanded, our objective is to bring the most innovative smart home control to more and more people,” explains new Savant CEO William Lynch. “The Smart Series delivers total Savant Smart Home performance at much more accessible price points.”
Savant is taking pre-orders for the Smart Series now, with plans to start shipping on March 17, 2014. It will be available through Savant’s network of over 1,500 authorized integrators around the world.
