Rotel RMB-1585 HT Amp Delivers 200 WPC
Rotel's soon-to-be-released RMB-1585 home theater amplifier includes a choice of RCA or XLR connectors, and the company says the amp is engineered to deliver 200 watts of continuous power into an 8-ohm load with all channels driven.
Rotel Electronics has been designing and building audio components for more than 50 years and not long ago the company announced its four latest products. Included in those new products is the company’s latest flagship home theater amplifier the RMB-1585.
Rotel says it designed the amplifier for home theater enthusiasts that desire the best possible sound reproduction, and according to the company, the amplifier incorporates its Balanced Design Concept to ensure the amp’s tonal accuracy and enjoyment. Rotel points out the five-channel amplifier is capable of producing 200 watts of continuous power into each of its channels, and it is designed to effectively drive a variety of loudspeakers. The amp incorporates dual-toroidal transformers that are designed to provide proper voltage and current to the product’s rectifiers, regulators and capacitors, and the company says the transformers also act as power filters to eliminate the problems of dirty power affecting the performance of the amplifier.
In addition to its dual-toroidal transformers, Rotel notes the amplifier also employs Slit-Foil Capacitors and Rotel explains these capacitors minimize eddy currents that hurt the capacitors’ ability to store and release energy. Other performance traits of the RMB-1585 include a power-supply section that utilizes the Slit-Foil caps, as well as six power transistors per channel, and dual fans to provide the necessary airflow for proper thermal ventilation.
Aesthetically the amplifier features a contemporary industrial design that is highlighted by its rear-panel array of single-ended RCA and balanced XLR inputs to provide electronics professionals a choice of connection options.
