Report: Schneider Mulling Purchase of Tyco
Schneider sees ADT acquisition as a way to diversify the company outside of the smart grid.
Tyco is the parent company of ADT Security Services.
Schneider believes ADT will help it expand beyond the smart grid, according to Reuters, which cited three unnamed sources. Tyco’s market capitalization is roughly $23 billion. Schneider, owners of APC, SquareD and Pelco, has a market value of about $46 billion.
In early trading on the rumors, shares of Tyco were up 6 percent to around $50 per share. According to Reuters, Tyco’s value would be around $65/share in a buyout.
Neither company would comment on the report, according to Reuters.
