Play-Fi Enabled Polk Omni S6 More Than Just Wireless Speaker Solution
The Omni S6 from Polk Audio incorporates DTS' Play-Fi wireless audio technology, along with a four-channel, 100-watt amplifier and services that include Pandora and Spotify Connect.
At the 2014 CEDIA Expo Polk Audio, along with its sister company Definitive Technology, surprised many audio enthusiasts when they announced their respective lines of DTS Play-Fi enabled wireless whole-house audio and home theater products.
This year at the 2015 CEDIA Expo, Polk will show its latest Play-Fi enabled product, the new Omni S6. Polk engineered the Omni S6 to fill medium- to large-sized rooms with sound. The S6 is the first Omni speaker to include a 3.5mm input.
“The Omni S6 gives our customers an easy way to listen to all the music they love from a beautifully designed wireless speaker that incorporates the same build quality and sound engineering found in our core audio line of high-performance products,” states Michael Greco, global brand director for Polk Audio. “To develop the OMni S6, we took our expertise in component speakers and combined the sound we’re famous for into the format of a single stereo-powered speaker. This speaker will truly surprise and delight listeners with its immersive and transparent sound.”
Internally, the Omni S6 features a pair of 4-inch drivers and two 3/4-inch tweeters driven by a four-channel 100-watt Class D amplifier. Through its stereo pairing option, dealers can set up two Omni S6 speakers in a left/right stereo configuration. To enhance the sound the speaker produces, the speaker utilizes the company’s proprietary Dynamic Balance technology that employs specific materials to ensure minimum amounts of distortion.
On the content side, the Omni S6 offers access to popular music services such as Pandora and Spotify Connect, digital music stored on homeowners’ networks including iTunes libraries, and can access and play content on mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads.
Polk offers the Omni S6 in a choice of black or white. It supports the $350 all-in-one speaker with Apple iOS and Android apps. The Omni S6, along with the rest of the Polk product line, can be seen at the 2015 CEDIA Expo in booth #5710.
