Panasonic Debuts Life+Screen AX800 4K UHD LED LCD TVs
Available for pre-order for spring delivery, Panasonic's new 2014 Life+Screen AX800 Series 4K Ultra HD LED LCD TVs feature smart technology in 58- and 65-inch models.

At the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Panasonic unveiled the 2014 Life+Screen AX800 Series - a new category of 4K LED LCD TVs that combine Panasonic’s “Beyond Smart” branded features and “supreme picture quality in a cutting-edge design.”
Debuting this spring, the Panasonic Life+ Screen AX800 Series will feature 58-inch (57.5 inches diagonal) TC-58AX800U and 65-inch (64.5 inches diagonal) TC-65AX800U models. The TC-58AX800U model is now available for pre-order for $5,999).
The Life+ Screen AX800 Series features a 4K Ultra HD panel with four times the resolution (3840x2160) of Full HD. Among the features incorporated into the TVs are:
- A new Studio Master Color for rich, accurate color reproduction.
- A newly developed, high-color-space LED backlight that achieves a wide color gamut.
- Accurate color expression in low-brightness areas of the image.
- High contrast and rich gradation from the Local Dimming Pro
- The 4K Fine Remaster Engine, which is a dedicated image processor, that upconverts low-resolution images
- Tentative designation of THX in 4K UHD.
The AX800 Series is its Life+Screen “Beyond Smart” feature provides an interface with a variety of functions. Building on Panasonic’s “My Home Screen” personalization features introduced last year, Panasonic Life+Screens overhaul the user interface and implement enhancements regarding learning the content preferences of individual users, including breaking different content out of its silos and making navigation easier and more intuitive.
Among the features are a voice assistant, a new Home Screen that can be personalized with favorite apps and content, new functions to enable faster access to streaming Cloud content, a built-in camera, proximity sensor and facial recognition. There is also a new Remote Sharing feature that makes it possible to share video memos, messages, and other information from my Home Screen through smartphone devices while away from home.
For integrators, the AX800 Series prepares the user for the future with 4K 60p single-wire input. The 4K 60p Input designed based on HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2a specifications is compatible with copyrighted HDCP 2.2-compliant content. H.265 (HEVC) high-quality, high-efficiency content can also be played. This opens the door to connection with the many upcoming devices with terminals for 60p native 4K content.
From a design standpoint, the TVs are based on the concept of Premium Furniture Design that removes redundant elements to achieve a simple elegance.
