These days it doesn’t matter if a dealer is building an A/V system, a home automation system or even a standard home network. High speed network connectivity is a must for every installation.
Replacing its S8W switch, the Hayward, Calif.-based networking manufacturer Pakedge announced the release of its S8Wpde 8-port gigabit switch. The S8Wpde can be used for a variety of applications, including A/V, security, home networking and other web-based applications. The powered by PoE switch incorporates eight gigabit data ports, and other features that are built in to ensure its reliable operation in a variety of network environments.
Pakedge also points out that because of its AC power and PoE power options, the switch can be used in new building environments and existing structures. Pakedge adds the switch’s PoE option eliminates the need for an external power supply which also streamlines its footprint to save valuable wall and rack space. The plug-and-play switch is fully compliant with all network protocols, including the ability to automatically adjust to network speeds with the functionality to provide 10, 100 and 1,000 Mbps of connectivity.
In addition, the fanless switch also supports auto MDI/MDI-X functionality and 9K jumbo frames that is said to contribute to better network performance. In larger systems, installers can connect the switch to another switch or hub without having to use a crossover cable.
The small footprint 7.16-inch x 3.6-inch x 1.4-inch S8Wpde gigabit switch is built with a sturdy steel housing. Its flange mounting brackets are designed to make wall mounting easy.
