Experts will say in great detail that no component in the world of home theater is as important as good room acoustics. These experts will explain that bad acoustics will overshadow the best speakers, amplifiers, Blu-ray disc players, turntables and they will prevent these type of products from reaching their full sonic potential.

Auralex is a manufacturer of acoustics products and a provider of acoustical analysis services and one of its most affordable and effective solutions is its SubDude subwoofer platform products. Recently the company updated this solution which is engineered to decouple and isolate a subwoofer from the floor to improve low-frequency performance. The new SubDude-HT Subwoofer Isolator is said to be a larger and lower profile version of the SubDude to provide increased decoupling properties for home theater installations.

The product features a 3/4-inch velour-covered MDF (medium density fiberboard) with a 1-inch base of Auralex PlatFoam that is used as an isolation boundary to decouple a subwoofer from the floor. Auralex says this type of isolation enables sound to emanate directly from the subwoofer to reduce low-frequency muddiness. The company also notes the additional benefit of this improved isolation is that it minimizes structural vibrations to help ensure cleaner sound.

Auralex adds the SubDude-HT platform measures 22 inches wide, by 17 inches deep, by 1.75 inches tall and these dimensions allow for it to be used with a majority of the subwoofers that are currently on the market.
