At CEDIA 2016, Legrand introduced several new products under its growing portfolio of custom-electronics brands. CE Pro already covered the company's rack-related products from Middle Atlantic, as well as networking gear from the latest acquisition Luxul. Here we highlight new gear from NuVo, On-Q and C2G. Up next: Vantage (lighting and home automation) and Q-Motion (motorized shades).

NuVo Wireless Soundbar

NuVo, a popular maker of whole-house audio systems – both wired and wireless -- introduced its first soundbar (NVP500-NA) at CEDIA. But it’s not just a home theater speaker with companion subwoofer. It doubles as a zone in NuVo’s Player Portfolio whole-house IP audio platform.

NuVo product manager Walt Zerbe says the product is “very configurable” by dealers, who can control things such as how bright the LEDs are on the soundbar.

As a Portfolio zone, the device can be controlled like any other wired or wireless speaker in the Portfolio portfolio – via keypad, touchscreen or mobile app.

NuVo also introduced a three-zone rack-mounted player/amp (NVP4300-NA) to its multiroom audio product line, adding to its tabletop products.

Affordable Android Controller

NuVo added a new control point to its array of interfaces: a 7-inch Android-based PoE tablet (NVP30-NA). that retails for only $345. It comes pre-loaded with the NuVo Player Portfolio app, but can be used as a multi-purpose Android device as well.

Not surprisingly, the company showed off a whole-house audio system with Android controller connected through a Luxul router. Legrand acquired the networking company earlier this year.

On-Q Compact NVR

On-Q introduced a new network video recorder (NVR), the CM7200-NA, that is compact enough to fit in a small structured-wiring cabinet, yet powerful enough to fuel up to four IP cameras via PoE. The unit supports the ONVIF protocol for use with thousands of compliant IP cameras. It also features an HDMI port for outputting video to an HDTV display (view schematic).

The unit integrates with security systems to record upon an alarm event, sending alerts as appropriate.

Standalone apps will be available when the product ships soon.

The new form factor complements Legrand’s enclosure-based Intuity home-control and communications system by On-Q. At CEDIA, the company highlighted Intuity 2.0, which adds Schlage Z-Wave locks, Nest thermostats and Linear Z-Wave garage-door controllers to the mix of supported smart-home devices.

C2G Fiber with Swappable Connectors

Cables 2 Go (C2G) was primarily a commercial-oriented video-distribution company when Legrand acquired the company (part of Lastar) in 2014. At CEDIA, Legrand introduced a more residential-centric line from the company.

Mark Tracy, VP of Middle Atlantic and Legrand’s commercial A/V group, says C2G has always been “very, very good at digital extensions,” delivering 4:4:4 color sampling over distances up to 1,000 feet.

At CEDIA, the company demonstrated fiber-optic cabling systems with leads that can be terminated with snap-on HDMI or various other connectors.
