Mike Anderson, TiO, ACTP Return with Mfg, Financing, Real Products
After major hurdles, TiO home automation/multiroom audio products from Automated Control Technology Partners (ACTP) ship next week, thanks to new manufacturing and financing partner.
Hopefully this is the last time we have to say it but Automated Control Technology Partners (ACTP), maker of the TiO home automation and multiroom audio systems, is back, this time with real products that are expected to ship next week.
In a letter to TiO reps, ACTP principal Mike Anderson writes: “To paraphrase Mark Twain, the rumors of our death have been greatly exaggerated. We are alive and while we may not be running wind sprints just yet, we are out of the coma, off life support and looking forward to solid food.”
Anderson has been mum since closing TiO’s old offices – not the business, just the structure—and “furloughing” employees in May, fending off rumors of TiO’s demise with assurances to CE Pro that funding would come.
Given TiO’s history – dating way back to Russound’s acquisition of Colorado vNet, Anderson’s subsequent acquisition of that company (then 3vNet) and the reinvention of the business under the ACTP and TiO brands – Anderson figured he should just keep quiet until he was ready to ship again.
He says the much-awaited AZSS1 (StealthStream 1 audio player) , MC1 (Master Coordinator home-control hub ) and PS1 start shipping next week.
“Our core software team has remained intact and the advances they’ve made on the TiO app and the SS1 and TL4 [TouchLite Wi-Fi lighting control] firmware are substantial,” Anderson says. “As we begin to ship and produce revenue, our hope is that more of the team will come back on board.”
Funding to keep TiO ticking is coming from the company’s new manufacturing partner, Anuva Manufacturing in Melbourne, Fla.
Anuva is financing the build of the first 2000 AZSS1 units and the first 2000 of the TL4.
Vinu Patel, the owner of Anuva, has a seat on ACTP’s board of directors.
In his letter to reps, Anderson notes, “It’s important to recognize the huge lift this is for us, providing a way to deliver quality products, even with our limited cash position. Mr. Patel is committed to the success of TiO and is working hard with us to move everything forward in the best/fastest way possible.”
ACTP has moved facilities to Melbourne, near the manufacturer.
“This enables us to keep a close eye on the manufacturing process and maintain the quality we all want,” Anderson says. “We will be fulfilling customer orders directly from the Anuva facility.”
Anuva is contributing also with its research and development team in Raleigh, N.C.
“They are finalizing the TL4 design and we are scheduled to begin UL testing in mid-August. We intend to start shipping TL4 in September,” Anderson says.
