Nine home technology integrators are vying for five elected spots on the CEDIA Board. Go ahead and stump for your favorite candidates here.
Member companies in the Americas, Australia, China, Japan and New Zealand can cast their vote until December 11, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. EST.
Here are the nine candidates, along with their brief introductions. Fuller bios appear in the CEDIA voting system.

TROY BOLOTNICK - INTERIOR TECHNOLOGIES, INC. Segundo, CA Years in the industry: 15
A lifelong technophile, Troy Bolotnick brings a unique blend of technical, business, and creative experience to his roles in sales, system design, and management for Interior Technologies. With a focus on research and development as well as vendor and client relationships, Troy develops integrated design concepts while bridging the gap between technical and human for vendors and clients.
Troy’s experience includes tenure in the entertainment and advertising industries and as a pioneer of online interactivity in the 1990s. He co-founded and served as President for Ionic Worldwide Studios and served as Senior Vice President of Production for America Online. Troy is a CEDIA Electronic Systems Certified Designer and is regarded as an authority on integrated electronic system architecture, design, engineering, management, user interface, and installation.
JOHN CLANCY - AUDIO COMMAND SYSTEMS, INC. Westbury, NY Years in the industry: 22
In his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Audio Command Systems, John Clancy is responsible for many of the day‐to‐day operations at the New York headquarters along with technical leadership and the direction of the entire organization. John is directly involved in sales, special projects, and maintaining relationships with VIP clients and key industry partners.
In his previous role as Senior Programmer at ACS, John mastered control system programming and developed that software into a repeatable solution that allowed for simple replication with extreme reliability. John studied at the New York Institute of Technology and served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He holds certifications from Crestron, Lutron, Savant, and Control4, and has volunteered for CEDIA for three years.
KEN ERDMANN - ERDMANN ELECTRIC Springville, UT Years in the industry: 38
As co-founder and part owner of Erdmann Electric, Inc. Ken Erdmann ran the low-voltage and systems integration component of the company. A CEDIA volunteer since 1994, Ken has served as an instructor, committee chair, subject matter expert, and volunteer leader, and currently serves as the Certification team leader. In 2005, he was elected to the CEDIA Board of Directors, ultimately serving a two-year term as Chairman. Ken is a past CEDIA Volunteer of the Year, a CEDIA Fellow, and a recipient of the CEDIA Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ken enjoys travel, which he says helps inform his view of what is necessary to be successful and serves as a reminder that to understand others’ needs, one must see them on their terms in their own homes and places of business.
R L (RIC) JOHNSON - RIGHT AT HOME TECHNOLOGIES, LTD. Mason, OH Years in the industry: 40 years
R L Johnson is President and CEO of Right@Home Technologies, Ltd., the parent company of Ric’s Electric, specializing in energy management solutions for active adults; Elite Systems Solutions, an electronic systems contractor serving the 50+ housing market; Ohio Home Theater, specializing in the design/build of entertainment spaces; Excentrique, an industry training and advocacy company; and R L Johnson Construction Services, a custom builder/remodeler in the aging-in-place market.
Ric is a speaker, trainer, and evangelist for home technology for aging in place and has consulted builders, developers, and clients on developing room additions and structures for the market. Ric is currently the Vice-Chair of the State of Ohio Commerce Department’s Board of Building Standards Residential Construction Advisory Committee, which develops, interprets, and enforces the Residential Code of Ohio.
GREG MARGOLIS - HOMETRONICS, INC. Dallas, TX Years in the industry: 29.5
Greg Margolis has always been electronically and mechanically inclined, creating FM radios, taking the engine off his dad’s lawnmower to make his go-cart faster, and building 800-hp muscle cars in high school.
In 1986, he founded HomeTronics. Career highlights include manufacturer recognition, magazine features, designing the outdoor entertainment system for Neiman Marcus’s annual Christmas Book, and many award-winning projects, including the first deployed immersive audio system in the U.S.
Greg spends time traveling in search of technologies that can become part of the solutions HomeTronics offers, and he has built key relationships all over the world. He has worked with post-production studios, has been involved with product design and manufacturing, and has held multiple committee chairmanships and board positions in an associate organization.
ROBERT MAY - SOUNDS GOOD AVS SOLUTIONS, INC. Oakville, Ontario, Canada Years in the industry: 10
Robert May began his career in the consumer electronics industry 10 years ago after a chance encounter with an experienced integrator kicked off a two‐year mentorship. Together with his knowledge and experience and his business degree, Rob founded Sounds Good AVS Solutions, Inc.,a business that strives to offer the easy-to-use, value-oriented, and aesthetically pleasing systems to customers in the Greater Toronto Area.
In 2015, Rob and Nikki joined a fellow industry professional to open the Sounds Good Customer Experience Center in Oakville, Ontario. Rob seeks to continually evolve his business to keep up with and help drive ever‐changing technology. His number-one goal is to simplify technology and make the right technology available to the people that want it—and in some cases need it.
TERENCE MURRAY - AUDIOVISIONS* Lake Forest, CA Years in the industry: 25
Terence Murray has 25 years of experience as an electronic systems integrator. He oversees AudioVisions’ strategy, planning and execution, and best practices, and leads the team responsible for information services and technology, operations, and software development. Terence also works closely with several Best Buy teams to drive various enterprise initiatives.
Terence joined AUDIOVISIONS, Inc. in 1997 as Vice President of Strategic Development and was also founding partner and President of AUDIOVISIONS-Northern California. Prior to AUDIOVISIONS, Terence served as Vice President of Escient Technologies, LLC, and as General Manager and partner at Phoenix Systems.
Terence is a regular guest speaker on industry panels, consults with manufacturers regarding product development, and advises on new product introductions. Terence studied Managerial Economics at the University of California, Davis.
MICHAEL POPE - AUDIO VIDEO INTERIORS* Middleburg Heights, OH Years in the industry: 33
Michael Pope is considered a visionary entrepreneur, often called upon by peers and the media to share his expertise. He currently chairs the Board of Directors for the Retailer Council for CEA and serves as Vice Chair for the Electronic Security Association’s Executive Management Group. He is also serving his first term on the CEDIA Board of Directors and is an active volunteer and instructor.
The AVI Group, with its brands Audio Video Interiors, Safety Technologies, and Environments by Design, is the market leader in engineered technology solutions for both residential and commercial clientele. The company’s solutions include home automation, dedicated theaters, security, lighting control, distributed music, and commercial AV. AVI is a CE Pro 100 company.
JOE WHITAKER - JWHITAKER DESIGNS LLC* Wentzville, Missouri Years in the industry: 17
Joe WhitakerCurrently serving his first term on the CEDIA Board of Directors, Joe Whitaker is a notable entrepreneur, inventor, and volunteer with over 17 years of experience in custom systems integration, design, and implementation in both the residential and commercial markets. A proactive member of the CEDIA community, Joe has helped in product design, development, creation, and pre-production testing with top manufacturers like Sony, Platinum Tools, Sanus, Nyne, Stealth Acoustics, Simply Reliable, VANCO, Current Audio, SONOS, and many more.
Whitaker is an enthusiastic evangelist for custom electronic systems whose views and opinions are highly valued by not only the integrator but also the manufacturer. Joe is a regular contributor of news, product reviews, and tutorials for CE Pro, Electronic House, Commercial Integrator, and TecHome Builder.
