McIntosh Wireless Speaker System Incorporates Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Streaming
McIntosh has introduced its new RS200 Wireless Speaker System featuring ARC, AirPlay 2, and aptX Low Latency compatibility.
Diversifying its product lineup, the decades-old audio company McIntosh has introduced its new RS200 Wireless Speaker System.
The McIntosh RS200 Wireless Speaker System is engineered to fill home spaces with sound while providing users with a modern audio product that meets a range of lifestyle applications.
McIntosh has equipped the RS200 Wireless Speaker System with a plethora of options to enable integrators to deploy the product in wireless and wired environments through provisions such as Apple AirPlay 2, aptX HD, and aptX Low Latency to stream high-resolution audio while maintaining connectivity.
Addressing wired connections, the RS200 incorporates an audio-only HDMI input to facilitate the connection of televisions with Audio Return Channel (ARC) capabilities.
Other wired connections include an optical input to allow for the connection of TVs without ARC, as well as a USB Type-B input to play music from a computer, and a 3.5mm auxiliary input to support the connection of analog audio components.
The product supports whole-house audio applications by incorporating DTS' Play-Fi, allowing integrators to mix-and-match other wireless whole-house audio products licensing the technology.
Integrators can also connect McIntosh's Play-Fi compatible RS100 wireless speakers to use as surround speakers in multichannel audio system configurations.
The RS200 supports DLNA to allow a wide range of whole-house audio configurations.
McIntosh RS200 Streams Spotify, TIDAL, Pandora, and More
Externally, McIntosh's new RS200 Wireless Speaker System blends some of the company's famous industrial design elements such as the glass-panel and blue-backlit status windows into a completely modern acoustical design.
Utilizing a driver array that features a total of eight drivers, the RS200 employs a pair of 4-inch x 6-inch woofers, four 2-inch midrange drivers and two 3/4-inch tweeters. The product also produces 650 watts of power.
The RS200 also features a subwoofer output to provide the system with the ability to deliver extended low frequencies, and its three-position equalization (EQ) switch helps tailor the speaker system's output based on specific room placement and homeowner preferences.
In addition, the inclusion of Apple AirPlay 2 allows iOS users to wirelessly stream content from their iPhones, iPads and Apple TVs directly to the speaker system, while the Play-Fi option offers a choice of streaming services including Amazon Prime Music, Pandora, Qobuz, SiriusXM, Spotify, and TIDAL.
