M. Rothman Gets New Ownership

Retail distributor Z. Reiss & Associates enters into contract to buy the assets of PowerHouse Alliance member M. Rothman & Co. Inc. in Ramsey, N.J.

Electronics firm Z. Reiss & Associates has acquired M. Rothman & Co. Inc., a family-run distributor for more than 60 years.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but a new wholly owned subsidiary called Z. Rothman will d/b/a M. Rothman Group.

“We are excited for this new opportunity for the Rothman brand and legacy to continue and to work with the people over at Z. Reiss & Associates,” says Douglas Rothman.

“We were impressed by their knowledge of the industry, their values, and commitment, “ adds William Rothman.

New M. Rothman Group CEO Zalmen Reiss adds, “By leveraging our prior experience in the electronics industry, from our successes with Z. Reiss & Associates and with the purchase of M. Rothman’s assets,  we will have the opportunity to increase our consumer base and distribution while continuing the legacy and values which have been established.”

For over 30 years, Z. Reiss & Associates Inc. has been a “single source supplier” for hundreds of camera, electronic, and high-tech retailers nationwide and is recognized as a leader in electronics and camera distribution in the New York area and nationwide, according to the announcement.

M. Rothman & Co., a founding member of the PowerHouse Alliance, was a leading distributor of consumer electronics, appliances and housewares, and mobile electronics, serving stores and Internet accounts with products and fulfillment services for more than 60 years.

It is “business as usual” in terms of servicing its customer base, according to Russell Rothman. The specific executive management structure and membership status in the PowerHouse Alliance will be announced next week, according to Rothman.
