A few years ago it was somewhat unique to have a home with multiple Web-enabled devices in it. Today however, the typical home includes smart phones, iPads, Blu-ray disc players, streaming media players, gaming systems and of course multiple computers.

The newly introduced XMS-1008P 8-port Gigabit Ethernet Smart PoE Switch from Luxul is designed for use in a home or small office and it provides all of the provisions necessary to support the increasingly amount of network activity that Americans now require. The 8-port switch offers a full 15.4 watts of power from each port to allow for the transmission of power and data distances up to 300 feet. Luxul incorporates VLAN and Quality of Services (QoS) features to allow VoIP, gaming video streaming and other network intensive activities to run smoothly and reliably.

Luxul ships the unit preconfigured to facilitate its installation and the Utah-based company also includes a selection of security features, including 802.1x port-based authentication and an Access Control List (ACL) option that adds another layer of network security.
