Kwikset Adds Touchscreen for SmartCode 914 Deadbolt Lock
In addition to its touchscreen and wireless control capabilities, the latest version of Kwikset's SmartCode 914 deadbolt lock offers UL certification with a 20-minute fire rating and the company's SmartKey re-key technology that allows homeowners to re-key locks without removing them from their doors.
As the capabilities of home control and automation continue to grow, consumers are expecting more from these solutions. Fulfilling the public’s expectations for smart home supremacy are manufacturers like Kwikset that design products such as smart door locks for residences.
The latest product from Kwikset is a touchscreen version of the company’s SmartCode 914 deadbolt lock.
The Lake Forest, Calif.-based company says its latest smart lock product allows users to activate and “wake up” their locks with the touch of a fingertip, and it will automatically detect correct codes and immediately unlock to provide homeowners with an easy-to-use, convenient locking system for their homes.
“The new SmartCode Touch is a natural addition to our SmartCode product line,” says Keith Brandon, director of residential access solutions for Kwikset. “Each new lock that we introduce brings an increased level of convenience and safety to the residential security market. The SmartCode Touch does that as well, while expanding the range of SmartCode lock choices available to the homeowner.”
Like the first version of the 914 SmartCode, the touchscreen version offers features such as a dedicated lock button that delivers one-touch locking. It also includes the company’s Home Connect technology that is bundled with both the Z-Wave and Zigbee versions of the product to enable the lock to communicate with other components and systems within a home for complete smart home integration. The all-metal lock, which is BHMA Grade 2 certified, holds up to 30 user codes. Its UL certification verifies it can withstand fires for up to 20 minutes.
Other features include Kwikset’s SmartKey technology that allows homeowners to re-key their locks quickly without having to remove their locks from their doors, and its BumpGuard technology that protects users from lock bumping.
