Why Wide Dispersion Is Key to Quality Outdoor Audio Designs
Klipsch Professional Landscape Series uses its 105-degree-dispersion Tractrix horn to helps integrators cover larger outdoor areas, avoiding gaps and hot spots.
Unlike an indoor home theater or even a multiroom audio setup, integrators don't necessarily know where a person will be standing or sitting in an outdoor audio listening situation. You can take an educated guess, but the beauty of bringing audio outside is that the listener is free to move around and enjoy the music.
That important fact is why wide-dispersion is the most vital component to a quality outdoor listening experience, according to Michael Buratto, product manager, component audio, at Klipsch.
"With an outdoor space, people are wandering around. People are mingling. People aren't always sitting in the same spot, so you don't really have a focused listening area or a focused soundstage. With an outdoor system, a wider dispersion is generally necessary just to have a more balanced sound," he says.
Wider dispersion means there will be no holes in the listening area, and conversely no hot spots.
Outdoor Entertainment Spaces Growing
"As business continually increases, integrators are spread thinner these days while their customers are demanding better performance. Manufacturers must be focused on bringing exceptional sounding, easy-to-install, flexible outdoor solutions," says Buratto.
Meanwhile, outdoor audio in general is in the midst of a boom.
"Klipsch Professional Series Outdoor Speakers are a horn-loaded, all-weather, durable, low-distortion, high-efficiency system – designed from the ground up with over 73 years of high-performance audio experience by one of the most legendary and reliable audio companies in the world. All this, plus this system can be installed completely tool free," he adds.
Klipsch Professional Series Landscape satellites and rock speakers fill any environment with sound, incorporating an extra-wide-dispersion (105 degrees) Tractrix horn that delivers powerful and balanced sound in every listening position.
Subwoofer options include full, half-burial and rock designs to allow the large cabinet volume necessary for low-frequency extension and output.
The satellites, rock and surface mount speaker solutions feature weatherproof construction and IP45 certification. The subwoofers remain hidden in their environment and provide flexibility in placement.
Integrators can also take advantage of a free professional system design service provided by Klipsch audio engineers. These designs showcase the correct placement, sound dispersion and a legend for each speaker a simple overview.
Klipsch features both 8-Ohm and 70V/100V compatibility, meaning this easy-to-install system can be custom-tailored to any situation.
