Augmenting its Test and Measurement product line, Klein Tools has announced two new Electronic AC/DC Voltage Testers.

Klein Tools says it designed the new testers to enable integrators to easily check, verify, or troubleshoot common residential electrical wiring and devices.

"Klein Tools new Electronic Voltage Testers offer easy-to-use solutions for testing and troubleshooting AC/DC voltage," states Sean O' Flaherty, director, product management, Klein Tools.

"Both the ET40 and ET45 feature four commonly used voltage levels for convenient testing of residential wiring systems such as outlets, light fixtures, doorbells, batteries and more."

AC/DC Voltage Testers Are Double Insulation Rated

The Electronic ET40 and ET45 AC/DC Voltage Testers incorporate these features:

  • The testers' four AC/DC testing levels are aligned with commonly used residential voltages.
  • Klein Tools points out the ET40 and ET45 feature LEDs to indicate the level of detected voltage.
  • The ET40 and ET45 testers include pocket clips to allow users to easily carry the products around.
  • According to the company, the AC/DC testers' industrial design is engineered to withstand rough environments and treatment with a 9.9-foot drop rating and an IP41 dust-and-water resistance.

The ET40 Electronic AC/DC Voltage tester identifies and distinguishes between AC and DC voltages, and it indicates polarity when testing DC voltages.

Integrators can use the ET40 to test AC voltages from 12 volts to 240 volts, and it tests DC voltages from 1.5 volts to 17 to 24 volts.

The tester incorporates built-in test lead holders on its sides and is CATIII 250V, Class 2, Double Insulation rated. The ET40 uses two AAA batteries, and its low-battery indicator communicates when the batteries might need to be replaced.

Moving onto the ET45,  the product tests AC voltages from 24 volts to 240 volts, and its tests DC voltages from 32 volts to 330 volts.

Like the ET40, the ET45 AC/DC Voltage Tester is CATIII 250V, Class 2, Double Insulation rated, and it features a built-in lead test holder on the back of the unit that holds the leads in position to support the testing of tamper-resistant U.S.-style outlets. The holder can also be used to store the testers with the ET45 is not in use.

In addition, the ET45 tester does not need batteries, as its power is supplied by applied voltage to save users the time and money.
