Jeff Francisco Joins Bunch of Ex-SpeakerCraft Guys at TDG
Former SpeakerCraft engineering VP Jeff Francisco joins Daniel Kippycash, Alex Chiou at TDG Audio as VP sales
Francisco was set to join former SpeakerCraft president Jeremy Burkhardt at Soundcast, but Burkhardt’s acquisition of the wireless speaker company fell through.
While Francisco held product management and engineering positions at SpeakerCraft – where he worked with Kippycash and Chiou – he will shift gears somewhat at TDG to serve as VP sales.
“I had the title of product development previously,” says Francisco, “but I’ve closed a lot of deals. I’ve always been involved in one aspect or another in sales. In product development I didn’t sit around at a monitor all day, I talked to people.”
Francisco says he had many opportunities post-SpeakerCraft and –Soundcast, but was intrigued by TDG and its unusual business model in which dealers and reps acquire shares of the company.
“I think it’s unique, quite viable and provides something meaningful to the dealer base and reps,” Francisco says. “Obviously, the product is good.”
When asked whether his non-compete with Nortek and SpeakerCraft would be an issue for him, Francisco replied, “not me.”
TDG is almost ready to ship products, says Kippycash, who launched TDG with Chiou last year.
He notes that Francisco brings a dose of credibility to the startup.
“We really wanted someone like Jeff who can really talk to them [customers] not just about product but the sales model,” Kippycash says. “Other salespeople are often just talking heads.”
TDG is selling its product through reps, and the company has signed two already
In addition, the company just hired Dave McCoy, former SpeakerCraft sales manager for Canada, to head up international sales for TDG.
