Icontrol Networks Files Patent Infringement Lawsuits Against Zonoff, SecureNet
Icontrol Networks alleges Zonoff and SecureNet infringe on several patents related to cloud-based home automation.
“Icontrol has invested more than a decade and many millions of dollars in research and development, and this investment has generated technology that we believe is now fundamental in leading home automation and security networks,” said Bob Hagerty, CEO of Icontrol Networks. “We have filed today’s actions to safeguard our investment in the backbone of Icontrol’s connected home platform. We are committed to protecting our intellectual property and the advantages it provides to our partners and customers.”
Icontrol currently has more than 30 connected home-related patents issued and more than 100 patents pending. Icontrol’s software currently manages more than 22 million sensors and devices, and last year alone, more than 66 billion worldwide events, alerts, and commands were collected, processed, and made accessible by Icontrol solutions, representing the most widely-used connected home platform in the industry.
The complaints assert that the technology in the Zonoff and SecureNet Alarm Systems products infringe one or more claims of Icontrol patents: United States Patent Numbers 7,262,690; 6,624,750; 8,335,842; 8,612,591 (both Zonoff and SecureNet), and 8,638,211 and 8,478,871 (Zonoff only), as well as 7,855,635; 8,478,844; and 8,473,619 (SecureNet only).
