On the surface, Crystal Screen and Broadata Communications, Inc. seem to have little in common. Crystal Screens manufactures highly reflective projection screens. Broadata Communications specializes in the transmission of digital connectivity solutions (video, audio, data, and control) over fiber, HDBaseT and IP. So what separates these companies from the crowded field of other players? One word—science.

Sister companies, BCI and Crystal Science were born from technologies developed by Physical Optics Corporation (POC), a leading supplier of integrated products that support military forces, intelligence agencies and prime contractors. The brain power behind POC produced numerous first-to-market technologies including Light Shaping Diffusers (the technology behind Crystal Screens) and multimedia transmission of video, audio, and data (the technology behind BCI).

Providing Clients the Best Signal Quality Possible

As video signals become more complex, transporting and switching 4K UHD signals also become more complex.  Broadata’s technologies allow integrators to provide the best signal quality possible and offer an easier way to transport and switch signals. Supporting today’s HDMI 2.0 4K UHD 60Hz 4:4:4 signals, advanced technologies include 4K UHD transport, switching, routing, and testing over Fiber, HDBaseT, AOC, and IP. Broadata is the only manufacturer with all of these technologies. Utilizing Advanced Display Stream Compression (DSE), Broadata offers a visually lossless 4K video transmission up to 100m over CATx cable; integrators using Broadata solutions can count on clear, reliable video.

For longer distance applications and those requiring 8K transmission in the future, fiber is the best choice. Transporting full bandwidth 4K UHD at 18Gbs over 300M, the LBO-H2 provides an industry-leading, long-distance uncompressed solution.

A Projection Screen Like No Other

With the growing popularity of high power 4K and laser projectors, home theater integrators face new challenges due to the fact that projectors are advancing but projection screens are not. Visit booth 3451, however, and you’ll see a screen that appears to defy the laws of physics to solve a number of  issues such as ambient light, hot spotting and color uniformity. The result of a prototype light diffuser developed for the aerospace industry, the material that would become Crystal Screens turned out to be so reflective, it exhibited mirror like qualities. The screen uses nano-lens technology, or millions of tiny holographic patterns that manipulate light energy or “diffuse” light through the science of optics. The screen can produce gains of up to and 2.5 with a 120 degree viewing angle and 3.0 with a 70-degree viewing angle and rejects all types of ambient light sources. Crystal Screens spreads light so uniformly, it preserves viewing angles, accurately reproduces color across all spectrums and results in zero hot spots.
