Gibson was founded in Michigan in 1894 and has gone on to become an iconic American brand whose popularity extends well beyond the world of professional and amateur musicians.

In a bold move, the Nashville-based musical instrument and consumer electronics company is expanding the branding of its Les Paul line of guitar products into the world of speakers.

At the upcoming 2015 CES Show in Las Vegas, Gibson will introduce its Les Paul Reference Monitors, which the company says will “carry on his name [the late Les Paul] as synonym for creativity and passion for music.”

Gibson says it leveraged its collective brand experience in the categories of musical instruments, studio monitors and consumer electronics that spans over 200 years to develop the monitors. Gibson states the monitors can be used by musicians to mix, record and produce music, or they can be used by homeowners to simply listen to their favorite music.

Externally, the monitors feature Gibson Les Paul-like industrial designs, and internally the products incorporate carbon-coated titanium tweeters, non-woven carbon woofers and custom-made amplifiers. The Les Paul Reference Monitors will be offered in a choice of three sizes and a number of finishes that include cherry, tobacco sunburst and cherry sunburst.

While we wait for CES, here is a video of Slash playing one of his many Les Pauls in the Guns N’ Roses classic “November Rain.” He plays a Les Paul alone in the desert and on top of a piano:
