Gibson Names Former D&M President Bob Weissburg Global Executive VP
Former D&M Holdings and Sony executive Bob Weissburg has been hired as Gibson's new global executive vice president.
Gibson has named Bob Weissburg as its new global executive vice president.
In the newly created position, Weissburg will report directly to chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, and he will work closely with all of Gibson’s divisions to develop and grow the company’s worldwide sales.
Juszkiewicz says Gibson is excited to bring Weissburg aboard to use his experience in the consumer electronics industry to help the company grow. “We’re delighted to have Bob join our company,” he says. “His experience coupled with his passion makes him a perfect fit for Gibson.”
The guitar manufacturer recently purchased the majority stake in Onkyo, with its relationship with the home theater electronics manufacturer as an inroads for delving into consumer electronics.
Weissburg joins Gibson from D&M Holdings where he served as president of sales and marketing for the Americas, overseeing the activities of Denon, Marantz, Boston Acoustics, McIntosh and D&M Professional products.
Weissburg left D&M in July of 2011 after helping the company to restore the allure of the McIntosh brand and growing the Denon and Marantz brands in the custom installation market. Prior to D&M, he had a successful career at Sony, holding several senior-level positions, including president of the consumer sales group and senior vice president of strategic planning for sales.
Weissburg says he’s excited for the opportunity to work for one of the most famous companies in the world.
“I’m thrilled to be joining such an excellent company whose focus is on product quality, customer service and dealer support,” says Weissburg. “Henry’s inspiring vision for the future was a key factor in my joining the Gibson team. The company truly understands music and makes the finest musical instruments and audio products in the world for the professional and enthusiast alike.”
On March 2, 2012, D&M announced an agreement with AVAD for sole distribution of products under both its Boston Acoustics and Denon brands. D&M also announced it was consolidating its rep salesforce, combining all three brands under a single rep.
